Focused on Australia, the database includes books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more and provides integrated access to millions of items from a range of the Australian National Library's collaborative services and from elsewhere. Metadata (information about items) is pooled from Australian sources including: The Australian National Bibliographic Database - containing location information from thousands of Australian libraries, The Picture Australia program, The Australian Research Online program, The Music Australia program, The Register of Australian Archives and Manuscripts, and The People Australia program, and some overseas sources. Many books are freely accessible (and results can be limited to these). Facets allow results to be narrowed by Format, Decade, Language, Australian Content, and Selected Subject View (Performing Arts including Music). Especially useful is Trove's collection of Australian Newspapers Online which includes a wide selection of Australian newspapers spanning the period from 1803-1950s
