BrillOnline reference works

Provides a link to the portal site for Brill online reference works encyclopedias subscribed to by BU Libraries, including the Brill's New Pauly (English translation), Der Neue Pauly (German original), Encyclopedia of Women & Islamic Cultures. Can be dispensed with if only interested in searching these resources individually (all four are separately cataloged in BearCat and listed in the ERD). However, for those interested in searching across more than one of them simultaneously, the portal site includes an "Advanced Search" feature that enables searching across multiple-subscribed resources. British history online

Makes accessible the core primary and secondary sources of medieval and modern Britain. Includes Parliamentary papers, State papers (records of payments, decrees, etc., by the Royal household), Church records (both Roman Catholic and Church of England), the full text of the "Victoria County Histories" (a valuable source of information on the history of each county of England up through the Victorian era, noting landmarks, cultural institutions, economic and business development, important people, etc.). Can be browsed by several categories (place, time period, sources, maps, region, subject) and full-text search is also available. All records have been transcribed. Contains PDF images of newspapers from Britain, Scotland, Ireland and Wales from 1721 - 1950 (formerly 19th Century British Library Newspapers). Coverage of urban, provincial, and small town newspapers in these areas. Search all 5 collections of over 170 newspaper titles simultaneously, in any combination, or a single collection. Collections I & II cover the 19th century and include representative titles from all regions of England, Scotland, and Wales. Parts III-V extend the time period (1721 - 1950), and increase representation of titles from the central and northern counties of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. British literary manuscripts online

Provides a digital archive featuring literary manuscripts dating from roughly 1120 to 1900. Literary works from Aesop's Fables through Charles Dickens are included. Coverage is mostly British (and early American/British) works and authors, but there are French, Roman, Italian, and other nationalities represented. View images of literary and religious works, poems, plays, essays, novels, diaries, and journals. Search may include both collections (medieval and Renaissance works, or 1660 - 1900) or either collection alone. Brownings

Accesses a database that when complete will contain a comprehensive and fully-annotated research tool to facilitate the study of the works and lives of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning and their circle. During the first phase of the project, the database will list, in traditional bibliographical formats, all known Browning- related material--some 70,000 items. It will draw on Browning collections from around the world. Checklists of the Brownings' correspondence, contemporary reviews of their works, and supporting documents were released on 13 October 2001. Later, bibliographical descriptions will be added of the poets' library, their literary manuscripts, and presentation volumes. Also included will be listings of printed works of reference, biography, and criticism. All known likenesses of the poets will be described and their personal effects cataloged
