ATLA religion database with ATLASerials

Indexes comprehensively scholarly and non-scholarly journals in religion and theology. This resource is a definite "must consult" for those undertaking bibliographic research in Christian religious studies. One of the oldest continuing indexes of religious journal literature, its retrospective journal coverage goes back as far as 1949 and in some cases to the 19th century. The breadth and depth of its coverage renders this index extremely versatile. Its content and search features make it relevant for research in a number of religion specific areas including Biblical Studies, Church history, Systematic Theology, Philosophical Theology, and Ministry studies, as well as denomination specific research. Full- text access is frequently available. Abstracting is spare, but does appear in the occasional record. EBSCOhost

ETHXWEb

Comprises an index of " journal articles, book chapters, bills, laws, court decisions, reports, books, audiovisuals, and news relating to bioethics and professional ethics." (Publisher's website). Maintained by the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University, this resource has very limited full text accessibility (for non-Georgetown University users). Good source for citations to research literature of bioethics and professional ethics. But in most cases, accessing the text will require consulting other resources. Results processing options are limited; either save all results from search or print all results...no email option is available. The save results option is difficult to use. Despite its quirks, however, researchers requiring comprehensive bibliographies of research literature for work in the areas of professional and bioethics will want to consult this resource. Began in the 1970's under the title BIOETHICSLINE. Some retrospective journal coverage goes back to 1947

Religion & philosophy collection (Gale)

Provides a collection of (mostly) peer-reviewed articles, with some full text in HTML and PDF format covering studies in religion and philosophy, intended primarily for academic researchers. There is considerable overlap between this index and other religious and philosophical indexes currently subscribed. So this one is perhaps best used as a supplemental resource, where comprehensiveness of results is a prime concern. It does contain some unique material, but not in sufficient quantities to justify enormous time expenditure. This collection is part of the larger Academic OneFile database. So ostensibly, this resource can be dispensed with, and the mother database could be searched in preference. Sophisticated search features include: peer review limiter, full text limiter, publication title search, etc. It does not include a scripture search feature. Full text availability. Includes some abstracts. Gale Cengage

Southern Baptist periodical index

Indexes Southern Baptist affiliated periodicals including denominational serials, seminary magazines, scholarly journals, and professional publications. An excellent resource for ephemeral publications not indexed by commercial indexing services and an important resource for anyone researching Southern Baptist history or theology from the late 20th century forward. It is a cumulative index to periodicals published by corporations related to the Convention. The electronic version of the Index is "a continuation of a project coordinated by the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1965 through 1984." (Main site description) However, coverage in the electronic version is only from 1983-forward. Researchers requiring access to content from 1965-1982 will need to consult the print volumes of the index. The search interface is primitive but functional: key word searching with publication search option and publication year limiter. Can also be searched by thesaurus, author, and title indexes.
